She’s your not-so-typical art director from Surry Hills, Sydney. And she uses POP to max her tax back.

Tell us about your work, Cassie

“I’m a midweight art director for a small advertising agency. I also have a couple of side-hustles on the go where I sell vintage clothes and some of my own original artwork. I’m a singer and an actor, as well…but still early in both these careers so haven’t yet seen the fruits of my labour…at least not yet, anyway. Ha!”

Come tax-time, what used to go through your brain?

“Let’s just say Excel spreadsheets terrify me. Who knew the life of a struggling artist was so expensive? Every year, doing my tax used to be a total nightmare. I’d be first to admit money isn’t my strong suit. Ahem.”

But not since you started using POP to file your tax return?

“Yeah, totally. I mean, an AI instead of an accountant? Hello, what’s not to like?”

How did POP’s intuitive Max-Deductibles system work for someone like you who in employed in the creative industries?

“Before POP, literally the only life-hack I knew for my tax was saving my Tax File Number on my phone so I couldn’t forget it, ha ha! But POP was easy. Loved the online platform. Loved the speed of it. Loved that it knew my industry and knew the maximum of deductions I could claim. Love that it maxed my tax back (which, for someone who works in advertising, is a pretty cool catch-phrase, by the way). And loved how, given everything else has gone digital – like music, movies, newspapers, books, etc – that it was about time tax finally caught up… Ha ha!”

Would you recommend POP to other creatives?

“Yes! It definitely helped me get my tax stuff together and my tax return up, so it’s like a total no-brainer. What’s cool about POP is that it understands what industry you work in, and so it also intuitively knows what you’re allowed to claim in deductibles. That’s really, really clever tech.”
